Remote access to Sheridan Libraries materials is limited to current Johns Hopkins University affiliates. Please see the JHU Information Technology page for more details here: http://it.jhu.edu/remoteaccess.html Proxy Service Proxy service requires no configuration on the user's part. When you click on a link to an online library resource, the proxy checks whether your computer is on campus or off. If you are working on campus you won't notice anything. If you are off-campus you will first be prompted to to click the Select button for "Johns Hopkins University," set to "Remember for session." Once you do that, you will see the familiar JHED login screen. Enter your JHED username and password to be passed through to the resource you wanted. Please see the FAQ page for more information about the proxy. Note: If you get a "Permission Denied" page after you have authenticated with your JHED ID and password, you will need to go into JHED and check your campus affiliation. To do this, log into the portal and go to the myJhed tab. Click on the "Change MyInfo" link and verify your campus affiliation. Go into your browser and delete all the cookies and clear the cache. Restart your browser. It may take a few hours for the update to be propagated in JHED. JHSecure VPN Client: a Virtual Private Network If you have not established your JHED password yet, you will need to do so. To retrieve your JHED ID and then establish a password, please go to the JHU portal at http://my.jhu.edu. Search for your name. Your assigned login ID displays in your record. To create your password, click on "First Time Logon" tab and follow the prompts and record all elements for your files (secret question and answer, password). To use the VPN client, you must download it, install it, and then run it, entering your JHED ID and password where prompted before you can access the library's resources. Note: As of October 1, 2006, RAUL is no longer available. If you have been using RAUL, you need to disable it in your browser options and download, install, and run the VPN software. You can disable RAUL by going into Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN Settings and then deleting the RAUL URL and unchecking the checked box. Please call IT@JH for assistance at 410-516-HELP or help@jhu.edu.
